A fortunate find in a Free Library, The Fair and the Bold by Donn O’Hara. Copyright 1957. Cover price: 35 cents. Beautiful cover illustration by Barye W. Phillips. Old, golden prose. Featuring the adventures of mariner Fletcher Steele, and the untamed La Cacafuego or (my amateur translation) shitfire.

I just read Gene Wolfe’s Pirate Freedom a couple of days ago, and was glancing through Defoe’s A General History of the Pyrates, and all of that activity was enough (clearly) to summon this old book.

Old markings on A Graphic Giant.
