A little while ago I bought, from proprietor Mark Wood at Space Age Books, an old book I remember from my childhood; here’s his reply, given in full. I found it yet another reason to shop in the small stores, and forgo Amazon etc. If you’re a reader of old-school F&SF, check out the goodies at Space Age Books. I give the AbeBooks storefront link at the end. Here’s Mark’s message. You can judge its quality for yourself I am sure:

Hi, Eric! Great to hear from you again, and as always THANKS! for your latest purchase, L. Sprague de Camp’s excellent theme anthology “Warlocks and Warriors”. De Camp was always a knowledgeable and discriminating editor, but – after his years of writing Conan stories with Robert E. Howard, and his own “Incomplete Enchanter” series – this 1970 anthology collected a genre that was both his expertise AND his passion. Of particular note, this anthology is the only hardcover publication of Henry Kuttner’s excellent novella, “Thunder in the Dawn”, which was the first of his “Elak” series.

Your book is now on its way to you via US Postal Service. As always, please let me know if your book does not arrive, or if it arrives in any condition other than my description on ABEBOOKS.COM.

Hope you’re having a very Merry Christmas, followed by an excellent Happy New Year!

Best regards,
Mark Wood
